Cleaning GN containers

All the GN containers in our selection are made from high-quality, food-safe materials. The materials used for GN containers include stainless steel, porcelain, melamine, polyethylene, polycarbonate, and polypropylene. GN containers are extremely durable and withstand wide temperature variations as well as strong detergents. Due to their surface materials, they are also very easy to clean.

GN containers do not necessarily require pre-washing. This saves a step, speeding up and streamlining the work significantly. If food is tightly stuck to the GN container, it is advisable to soak the container before washing. Soaking effectively loosens the food from the container’s surface, reducing the need for scrubbing. Often, even the most stubborn dirt comes off in the dishwasher after sufficient soaking. Sometimes, GN containers with particularly stubborn food residues may need to be washed in the machine multiple times. In such cases, we also recommend thorough, sufficiently long soaking. For the most stubborn food residues, it is advisable to scrub by hand before machine washing.

GN containers are dishwasher safe, although it is recommended to wash different materials in the most suitable way for each material. GN containers clean well in a hood-type dishwasher or conveyor dishwasher, provided the food is not tightly stuck to the container. A pot washing machine is an excellent helper when there are many containers and the food is difficult to remove.

Granular washing effectively removes dirt from GN containers using small plastic granules, water, and detergent. Stainless steel GN containers withstand mechanical stress very well, making them suitable for granular washing. However, granular washing is not recommended for plastic GN containers, as the granules can easily adhere to the plastic. This poses a risk of granules ending up in food and on customers’ plates. Granular washing is also not recommended for gasketed lids, as the granules can unnecessarily wear out the gaskets, significantly shortening the lifespan of the lids.

Although GN containers are very durable, careless handling and washing can cause damage to them. By properly cleaning, handling, and storing GN containers, you extend their lifespan and act more ecologically.
